Encrypted URL strings

I would like to avoid URLS like this:
book-appointment/?s_id=12&sm_id=5&g_id=1&allow_modify=0
People often play around with the numbers and try to figure things out.
Would it be possible to camoflage this without having to use URL shorteners ?
