A workaround could be achieved by chaging the extra items addon a little bit. Maybe adding an "overnight" extra item with a setting for the "end time" could be a way of implementing this more easily, since the plugin doesn't store start and end dates currently.
In this case, if the customer wants to rent from 20:00-03:00 they would choose the "overnight - until 3 a.m." extra item, and bookingpress would schedule a secondary booking from 00:00 through 03:00 when saving the booking.

This also needs to cover booking for 24 hours that doesn't run midnight to midnight (e.g. 10am on date of booking to 10am the following day)

Book overnight during hourly booking is really needed!! Right now people can only book daily over night, but no hourly.
